International day of the sick
World day of the sick was instituted on the initiative of the late Pope John Paul II first was recorded on 11 February 1993. The date was chosen due to the fact that Catholics all over the world since ancient times celebrated on February 11, the Day of the patient. On this day in the French town of Lourdes, many centuries ago there was the appearance of the virgin Mary. Holy virgin, our lady of Lourdes (Our Lady of Lourdes), healed the afflicted, becoming, thus, the symbol of the Savior of the sick.
